So here's my reconsidered review after watching this episode:
The tribunal itself still ranks as cheesy--especially the costumes and the script. That said, the Wu plot line, Juliette's hexebeast transformation, Bud showing courage...and even Monroe's over-the-top soliloquy--kept up what makes the show great.
I'm still bothered by the extreme contrast between the good directing and writing and acting that typifies the series overall, and the embarrassingly amateurish writing, directing and acting in the scenes focusing on the Wesenrein tribunal. At least the episode returned to what makes the show good, after the tribunal was history.
