I think the series is going to be cancelled. I actually liked it a bit during the first 2 seasons. But, then they started dumping in a bunch of characters from a dozen different story worlds and it became an incomprehensible mess.

Without the Emma character it does not make sense without ruining the show. I understood OUAT without a problem and it did give some good back stories to the characters and the EP of that show did not introduce a mix of science & magic unlike the EP of Grimm who clearly did not know the simplest science.
Women characters do not have to be having sex with the lead to be important to the story.
I think the show is getting cancelled too. I thought it was great for the first two seasons and I liked the Wicked Witch arc in season 3 a lot but it's been hit or miss since then.
Hook was good in his introduction but has been a complete bore since and receives way too much attention just for the sake of a lousy ship. Emma took her entire family, including her teenaged son to the underworld just to get him back. That was character assassination in the worst way. They're not Snow and Charming and never could be even though they've been made bland over the last few seasons. I have liked the backstories for the most part. It's gotten a bit muddled lately but they've been pretty good overall even though there is a considerable share of "cause plot" moments. Why are they even considering continuing without JMO? This season should've been written as the final one from the start. I think they'll wrap up the story with the idea that this could've been the final one but I would've rather had the definitive answer. The Black Fairy is a worthy antagonist and I'm fine her being the ultimate baddie. I've wanted to know more about her for years. Speaking of fairies, I always found Blue to be quite shady. Something wasn't quite right. I do think she's a force for good but I kind of found her manipulative. She seemed like the perfect counterpart to Rumple in earlier seasons because they were the two characters that appeared to be involved in most of the characters' stories. There was a time where I thought she may have wanted the Dark Curse to be cast herself so the final battle could begin.

I always watch it on dvr so I can ff through the stuff I don't care about. But the staggering number of beautiful women this show has had on over the years has made it must see tv for this old guy.
