I'm actually finding this show more interesting then I thought it would be at first. When I heard about it in the series promos I really didn't know what to expect.
I had never read Charlaine Harris's books before and I had never seen "True Blood". But, before the show premiered I read the first 2 "Midnight, Texas" novels. Just to get an idea of the story background. What I'm a bit surprised about is that the novels tend to focus on the 'mystery' elements of the story. Yes, there are fantasy elements involved. Whereas the TV production seems geared to the fantasy aspects and not the mystery part. Oh, by the way and spoiler alert. The sheriff and deputy were not killed in the novels. At least not the first 2 of them anyway. Haven't read #3 yet.
