Amigo, don;t take this as an attack on you, I am just using it as fodder to further a point. Only in a degenerate society such as ours could the idea of justice and respecting the rule of law be seen as "grim".
There was a time in this country when there was a code where bad guys were not allowed to prosper from their transgressions and even if they evaded the long arm of the law, justice exerted itself. A modern take on that is found even in the 70 in the form of the movie Dirty Larry and Crazy Mary.
The ending of that movie is analogous to Nick dying alone, in some cold dark warehouse as the life blood drains out of him thinking of Juliette. I find it fitting. The glorification of lawlessness is an epidemic in some communities among the youth. The various forms of media are used to normalize aberrant behavior when they could be used to enforce acceptable societal norms.
