I think that there has been plenty of character development in Grimm. None of the characters are the same as they were in season one. Nick is a stronger more efficient Grimm who knows the difference between good and bad wessen. He tried to arrest Monroe in the pilot because he was Wesen. Some of Nick's best friends are Wesen, and he has helped some of the wesen get rid of old feuds (Monroe and Orson). As for Nick being a good guy, I think so. He spent four years reacting to what others have done to him. The Royals tried to kill him sending reapers, the Royals put a hit out on Monroe for being Nick's friend, the Royals tried to kidnap Nick and turned him into a zombie, and the Royals killed his mom. Going after Kenneth to find Juliette and Diana was still him reacting to what was done to him. I also think Adalind is one of the characters who has changed and grown the most. First Diana and now this new baby gave her a new perspective. Renard also has changed a lot. Being vulnerable after dying and then the whole Jack story gave him new perspective. Monroe is no longer a loner clock fixer. He has really opened up since his friendship with Nick and relationship with Rosalee. Rosalee seems stronger and more confident as well. Even Bud. Juliette's story is the only one that seems to have suffered. I still hate the direction that her story went. It had so much potential.
