The writers want it shown that in fact she is dead. Chavez will have given her back after she cleans of any link to Trubel. Chavez will be the one cleaning it up and the FBI may claim terrorist because of all the dead and take over the case. Juliette will look like a victim of the attack. Or she will claim Kenneth was the head of the group and he kill Juliette Chavez may say she found out what he was up to and tried to stop it to make her look like a hero. Just my 2 cents.Hello again. Always love to hop into those intriguing discussions you always seem to be a part of .
My theory on the Funeral is that it's really a smoke screen. Not necessarily because she isn't dead but because closure is not going to be forthcoming. My theory for this is based on the two sneak peeks. The first on we got was showing when he apparently calls hank over once he wakes up from the drugs. Obviously the search for Juliet, Trubel and his mom's remains commences from there. Plus later in the day Wu says nothing has turned up. Obviously Nick has been out of touch for awhile because they're relieved to finally hear from him. By then he still hasn't found them yet so we can't be getting a funeral in a realistic timeline in this episode. It takes time to plan a funeral and notify family if indeed she has any.
The real kicker though is the next peek. The capture and drugging. After Nick succumbs to the drug you can hear a heartbeat as Nick presumably remembers the best and most noteworthy moments with Juliet this ends with the funeral, but if you will note the heartbeat sound is still there, a very internal storytelling effect. I believe the funeral is still in his mind at that point. The funeral as it is presented just then seems dreamlike as well. And Trubel is there. I'm pretty sure Chavez doesn't give her back in the first episode. And even if she did there would have to be a significant time jump at least by Grimm standards. To sum up, I think the fact that the funeral scene follows the drugged out scene and we know it takes time to organize a funeral, I think what we have seen is Nick dream like perception of Juliet's funeral and not the actual thing.
What do you all think?

Yes I think it was released as a sneak peek to give the fans the impression Juliette is really dead. The promo's for the next season don't follow what actually happens. In season 2 promo showed Juliette shooting a gun and Nick falling down, implying Juliette shot Nick. When the episode aired Nick wasn't even in the scene when Juliette fired the gun at Renard.
So until we see the episode we don't know what really is in the episode.
