I certainly didn't expect it. No one seemed to be concerned with possible side effects, just turning the new Nick back into the old Nick(or was it the old new Nick back into the new old Nick--in season 4, episode 1 even Nick didn't know what "normal" was any more). One reason for so many lawsuits is that no one wants to accept personal responsibility for what happens. The one who makes the medicine/potion is more responsible than the patient who takes it IMHO.
What they were more concerned about was Elizabeth's warning, which was if they didn't do anything, things could get worse for Nick.
Many of today's prescriptions come with a warning about suicidal thoughts, and to seek help immediately if a person has suicidal thoughts. Well, using that same logic, couldn't this spell give Juliette uncontrollable thoughts about being a monster? Everyone believes Juliette could wave some magic wand and just live with herself. How can she do that when they don't even know what she is?
