From my perspective, I don't think you can dumb it down so easily by blaming Juliette. The writers are the ones who wrote the character that way.
She's a good character. She just wasn't good with Nick. So the options are, make them a better couple, or make them part as friends. Throwing Juliette's character to the dogs was a big mistake in my opinion. It may even be, as I've said before, the kiss of death for Grimm.
They've got this big uprising coming up. Her character, as a doctor and a scientist, would be an invaluable resource to the uprising.
Of what use is Adalind in that capacity? Well, maybe she could change herself into someone else and sleep her way through the enemy, I don't know. The point is, they traded a character with brains and beauty for a dweeb with beauty. A dweeb who was a known enemy of Nick's who still isn't being honest with him.
I will give one thing to MS Coffee her facial expressions add to her character she has a wide range of expressions that for me fit the scene. Like the last episode when Nick hugged her that took me off guard and her face showed the same thing.
