No, Nick took her in to protect her and Adalind is not a survivor. IMO Eve is a survivor. Without the chance from Nick to prove she was a good mom IMO Sean would have wanted Diana back without Adalind. In season 4, Sean wanted Adalind killed so IMO she could not get Diana back.
why would adalind need to prove that she is a good mother to sean? conrad's the one who wanted adalind and diana with renard.
why wouldn't it be sean who had to prove that he's a good father to adalind? he's the one who gave baby diana away. he didn't care where meisner took diana until it was convenient for him to get her and adalind back. renard was fine with diana spending the weekend with her latest kidnapper. he had no idea who could manage to kidnap all powerful diana.
BC really wanted Sean so if he said to BC not to bring Adalind on board as part of the deal for him running for mayor IMO Adalind would not have gone to the BC mansion.

She falls pregnant and chose to go at it alone until Kelly showers up. She's become dependent on people to get to where she is currently based on her needs whether it was Meisner, Kelly,Sean or Nick but she's not been desperately clinging to any state. She adapts every time her circumstances change, that's not a sign of someone clingy or needy. If things between her and Nick changed suddenly she'd move on and survive that as she has everything else before that.
Adalind was too dependent on Sean and her mother for her age and once she was thrown out she acted very immature which indirectly cause the death of her mother. Due to her earlier immature behavior Nick and the gang feel no guilt in taking her baby even though I think they should have not done that. Adalind deciding to be dependent on Nick for a year gave her opportunity to be a good mother when she had no family to assist her or past good role models and time to get Diana back and with some more time with Diana will be ready for school at that point Adalind can go back to work or if she wishes move out. IMO being good mother when a child is sick or is not enrolled in school due to emotional issues accepting a time dependence is a good thing. I believe in family leave and going back to work only for nice clothes is not being a good mother. If staying with Nick was an issue by 613, I think Sean would have let Adalind use a guest room until the kids were ready for her to work again.
Women characters do not have to be having sex with the lead to be important to the story.
