I truly enjoyed reading about what he did and said at Ring/Con. Restores my faith in celebrities; some of them are just ordinary nice people, not self-important 'stars'! I'm certain he was a great ambassador for the show. The part about him keeping the Xmas project cloth wrapping on your gift to him is funny; he must have taken to it in a big way since you didn't have the heart to ask him to give it back! I'm a big fan of GoT; got into it in the '90s when the books first came out and even have one signed first edition, which I am very proud of. I never read the HP books, but my daughter and grandson have and that's why I became interested, so all I have to go on are the movies. I confess I really love them. Thanks for posting the con-report!

Welcome Yeah, it was really funny. The Xmas-project was this: GermanGrimmster Xmas-Project 2013. I never turned all cast-members into comics before so I did some scratches back then to get a feel for them. One of those scratches I made on an old tablecloth I inherited from my mom. And that the one I wrapped the sign in. They were mostly pure fun, I remember one with Eric and Sean running to get a crown, or a Nick with a bunch of flowers and a sad face while Juliette went off with Renard. I think the only one I kept was Wu as "Raider of the Last Cookie" because for me it's still a perfect fit. Everything else I changed. Silas saw the scratches and ... don't know, that cloth was so fast gone and vanished in his bag with him smiling brightly as the sun, I couldn't tell him that I usually wanted it back. I think he thought it would be funny what he saw. Well, the sign I made (and a how-to-do) I've written about here EDIT: Don't get me wrong, I'm watching GoT and I like the show very much. The books ... I just got the 5th one and maybe I will finally give it a try (in hope the original novels are better than what I read in German), as I'm usually an avid fantasy-literature-fan. HP or LotR/Hobbit are sort of standard to become a fan. I also still love Howard's heroes, and I'm a fan of Robin Hobb/Meghan Lindholm. I only wouldn't go to a con for any of that. As I wrote in the report, I have huge health problems (and still have), and usually I wouldn't have been gone at all, mostly because of that.

Seeing the mechanics of what goes into the creation of something like the lighted sign you made for Silas adds to the appreciation of the artistic inspiration behind it. Very well done; I'm sure he loves it, I know I do! And Silas couldn't have done a more Monroe-like thing when he smilingly pushed the cloth into his bag, if the writers themselves had scripted it.
The shirts are great. I have some small artistic talent, but I never could create caricatures or comics, I found it impossible to do well and it is so much harder than it seems. Yours are excellent and my hunch is that the cast loves them, too. (The HBO version of GoT deviates pretty good from the books and alot of fans are critical of this. The good news for me is that I read the first ones a long time ago and I have very poor recall, so it's like I never knew what happened until I saw it on my television screen! )

Actually I've no idea about the shirts, I never got any kind of feedback. Only Sasha made a picture of all the stuff he got from fans and there the shirt was with on the photo. Beside that I wouldn't even know that the package arrived in Portland (which was pretty sad for me personally as I put a lot of money into the whole thing and had finally not even a Christmas myself. A simple "Thank you" wouldn't have been too much I think ). Yeah, I just read a critic about the season finale about that there was an important character missing or such. Someone who had triggered what Tyrion did in the end. I didn't think it was such a loss, for me it was pretty much explained why he did what he did.

But I agree entirely with you that the simple courtesy of sending a thank you note would have been the proper thing to do - after all, it's the fans who make the show a success. About the GoT season finale, I heard that, too, but like you, I was fine with how it ended. These books are just too involved to be faithful to each event, I think that most viewers are alright with that.

Well, maybe I expected simply too much, who knows? I mean all of them know that I am at Twitter, except Mr. G, I've got tweets from everyone, Bitsie sent me mails on different occassions (mostly thanking me for screencapping and promoting her work). Well, I am in the position when it comes to Jackson's ... trys to turn the works of J.R.R. Tolkien into movies, I don't recognize anything from the books in the movies, so I simply stopped watching them. Seems like GoT-fans have my Grimm-problem, they cannot stop watching *kidding*
