Yesterday it hit me just how many episodes of Grimm have been produced up to this point. This got me thinking of which episodes have been the best thus far. Obviously the cliffhanging finales and the pilot are up there, but I thought it would be fun to start a thread where people can post their Top 5 Episode List but here's the twist, season premieres and finales don't count I'll kick things off!
1. Three Coins in a Fuchsbau (Season 1: Episode 13)
Originally produced as the show's finale (before they received a back nine order), this episode introduced us to the elusive Coins of Zakynthos which are still a mystery to this day. It also introduced us to in my opinion one of the best guest stars on the show thus far, Titus Welliver. Welliver portrayed a Steinadler named Farley Kolt who we find out had an affair with Nick's Aunt Marie. The battle for the coins is epic and full of action and to wrap the episode up we learn that Hitler was a wesen!
2. Last Grimm Standing (Season 1: Episode 12)
Being followed by the above mentioned episode this episode sometimes gets forgotten which is an absolute travesty. I think that this episode really solidified the Nick-Monroe partnership. Monroe goes undercover for Nick to learn about the Lowen Games and ends up getting thrown into a fight for the death with a Skalenzahne. Nick enters the ring to help him and you can really see that they care for each other as they team up to take down the ruthless killing machine.
3. To Protect and Serve Man (Season 2: Episode 11)
The reason that this one is so high on my list is because the story is unique and clever and lends itself very well to Grimm. We get an extremely well thought out story where Hank reinvestigates one of his old cases where a man claimed that he was attacked by monsters. With his new world view he decides to reopen the case and get justice for the inmate who is set to be executed that night. Nick and Hank are able to prove that he is innocent without the use of anything wesen. Really cool concept that worked very well.
BONUS: Jeffrey Dahmer was a Wendigo!
4. Mr. Sandman (Season 2: Episode 15)
Arguably one of the best and gross wesen on the show thus far and Nick gains the ability of super sonic hearing and uses it in an awesome showdown with the Jinnamaru Xunte. What more must I say?!?!
5. A Dish Best Served Cold (Season 3: Episode 3)
We revisit the Blutbad-Bauerschwein feud from Season 1 in the first Wesen of the Week installment of Season 3. We get to see Monroe's wild side and he sets out to settle the score, and he eventually gets shot in a elaborate plan to get Chef Ostler to confess. This was a unique episode based on the fact that there was absolutely no way to to convict the Chef because you can't prove he was targeting blutbad which leads to Nick having to take the law into his own hands to some degree by essentially forcing him to confess or get mauled alive by blutbaden.
HONORABLE MENTION: La Llorona, Twelve Days of Krampus, Volcanalis, and Nobody Knows the Trubel I've Seen
Now I'd like to hear what you guys think! What are your top 5 Grimm episodes and why?!?
