Just found a preview of the book + chapter 1....

http://blog.zap2it.com/pop2it/2013/10/gr...novel.html

I read it and it's excellent, John Shirley has captured the characters right off the bat and I found myself smiling and chuckling throughout the first chapter...

So, this book is out, yeah? How is it? Do you mind doing a "mini-review"? Smile

Cool. I'm curious to know what it's all about (and I'd rather get a review from fellow Grimmsters here).

I have to say that for me this book was a huge disappointment... I thought it started out really well, but as it went on I began to question how Nick and Co. were going to stop an enemy on such a massive scale... Still the pace of the book was such that it kept me interested until just as the story was gearing up...
Spoiler :
Nick was suspended from the police force and the rest of the story stalled
and I stopped reading. I'm sure i will finish at some point but the book would have been a lot better if it were 30 pages shorter, sans this unnecessary detour.

I have to admit after reading the entire novel I was much happier than I thought I would be, still, that only raises it to a 6 out of 10 from what might have been a 4

This book was my Christmas present and I finished it even before New Years Eve. (My whole Family thought that I just wanted the book because of the "good looking guy" on the cover xD)
I'm going to be honest - some parts had been very boring, first of all the parts about Napoleon and some other french history things, but thats just my personal opinion. But altogether I liked the Story and I passed the book to my father who had never watched Grimm (hehe, I'm starting to spread Grimm , thats my secret plan >:D)

Just finished reading it. I liked some of the dialogs, but found some references to Nick's "Grimm senses" a bit off, f.ex. it seems like Nick can identify anyone as wesen on first sight, I'm not sure the author understood that there are two different kinds of woge.

I'm also not sure the author knew that Hexenbiest is the female and Zauberbiest is the male, but maybe that info hasn't been out when he wrote the book?

I also thought that Nick honestly thinking about quitting his job as cop wasn't very likely and also a common trope, the end was funny though and it might have appeared differently to me on screen.

Still I love to read about our characters in novel form so I won't shy away from the next book Wink
