I have no problem with happy endings (if anything I think we need more of them), but that isn't evidence the writers care about how they go about portraying these people. A real "happy ending" - or at least a responsible one - would have had the majority of the characters being incarcerated for all the crimes they committed throughout the series. The writers didn't have the characters do those crimes because they wanted to be morally ambiguous, they just didn't care.
As for all the innocent folks who were slaughtered in the crossfire...well, let's just forget about them too, shall we? It would muddy up our beautiful happy ending.
