Chapter 3
Meanwhile back at the north east Sacremento police precinct. Captain Perez had just received a call from an off duty detective about a possible crime scene near his home he got up from his desk and walked to the desk sergeant.
" I need Loftus and Gomez" the desk sergeant didn't look amused." Come on Lauren it's only two guys and besides I'm your commanding officer" Perez said strongly. She reluctantly agreed, called them from there desk and they headed out of the precinct and into the patrol vehicle.
Captain Perez flanked by the two detectives beared down on the house with a patrol car Perez and Loftus in front with Gomez in the back. They approached the two storey house and went straight down the drive and through the gate by the side and straight through the garden. As he saw Detective Brooks standing next the hole in the ground the two detectives approached Brooks and started inspecting the hole in the ground there definitely was a coffin in the hole. So they decided to dig the rest of the coffin out then hopefully lift the coffin out of the ground. This took around 3 hours before they could lift the coffin out of the ground. The coffin looked around 100 years old as it had the date 1879 on the top. This date didn't really have any significance to the American people but this was also the date of a massive British defeat at Isandlwana. This was the first search they got of the date 1879 on the Internet. But this couldn't be from there as that was half way around the world from Sacramento. They were all curious what was inside the tomb. Detective Loftus asked cautiously " should we open it" they all agreed to this notion and started to open the coffin up as the wood was rotting as it seemed to be in there long. What they found was very unexpected this was because in the 100 year old tomb. They found a corpse that looked like it had only just been buried. They all gasped and stood back as the what they thought was a corpse just took in a massive breath and he screamed. The scream lasted for at least 1 minute and stopped then the would be corpse fainted.
1 year later
He woke up in a warm white bed than smelled very odd. The nurse was standing over him clearly surprised that he had just woke.
Another 30 minutes later a heavily built African American man just came barging in the asked the nurse." I came as quickly as possible, is he really awake , can I speak to him?"
The nurse softly replied "yes" to both questions. The man walked up to his bed" "would it be ok if I asked you some questions" he asked nicely. "Sure" he growled.
"First things first I'm detective brooks" as he spoke these words he piled out his SACPD badge and to Deandre surprise.
"Yes I know who you are" he said.
"H" but before he could say anything the patient said " you're my great great great grandson"
" I can tell those eyes from a mile away. The name's Clay Brooks" he said his voice growing softer as he spoke more. " then how the hell are you still alive" he smirks.
"Dolor tuus permanebit"
"What does it mean" he asked.
Clay was annoyed by this and went mental at Deandre. " do I look like I speak fucking Latin" after this comment silence came over the whole room. The silence was broken when the nurse told Deandre that Clay could go home now. " what the fuck" Deandre thought. Why do you think I'm gonna take him home he asked the nurse privately and the nurse told him privately that he was the next of kin. "He wasn't lying" Deandre thought. How did you come to that conclusion he asked the nurse. They told him that his DNA was a very close match to his own. This meant that indeed this was in fact his great great great granddad. He mulled over the choice for a couple of seconds and decided that he would take Clay home with him. Before he got Clay he called a friend of him Dan Wilson. Dan wilson was his current tech guy at the precinct. Deandre had quickly became integrated into the police precinct and had became fast friends with Dan and another detective who was actaully his partner. He called Dan as he wanted Clay recruited into the police academy. This was the original plan until he had to put Dan on hold as he got another call from round about the same time by the precinct this was important as it could have been an assignment. This was best case scenario but the worst case scenario had actually played out it turned out that his partner was also at the hospital and was in a critical condition and was unlikely to make it m. He took Dan off hold told him he'd ring him back in about half an hour. And he sprinted out of clays ward.
Deandre had made it to his partner ward but then was stopped by a thin doctor. And he said "detective Brooks I assume I've got some bad news for you. The doctor continued his full condolence speech and then told him that his partner was dead. After that he took clay home and Deandre looked off colour for the rest of the night.
Clay woke up screaming and Deandre woke up gasping at the exact same time. Deandre made his way toward Clays' room that was now fully furnished compared to when he first moved in a year a go today. Clay was in a coma for 365 days. In this time clay would have died at least 87760. Clay new exactly how many time he had died he would never forget that number "12,023,100" as he counted every single death. Deandre had called Dan. This phone call was useful in many way the most obvious reason was getting a translation for the words
"Dolor tuus permanebit"
It meant "your sorrow will endure/last forever "
It could be the reason that Clay had lived so long.
