No offense intended towards Whedon fans, but that's probably the worst slice of pure B.S. I've ever heard. I go to a doctor when I "need" something. Joss Whedon is no doctor. He's a writer and entertainer. Who the hell is he to assume what I "need?" Mixing up what's meant to be practical and what's meant to be pure fiction is sheer sophistry.
I've never liked Whedon's style before, but now I'm getting dangerously close to hating it outright. It's a sad and tragic thing if Greenwalt & Kouf have been influenced (or seduced) by his bogus philosophy.
