What if Adalind had left Kelly in the care of Rosalee and gone off to be with Diana and Renard. Would Nick have tried to get her back or just left her where she was?

After she gave birth and before the love connection was made in the fome? As they say in France "Adieu". But think about it. I don't think it would come to fruition.
Even from Adalind perspective. Given what all three went through. And Adalind had a prospering career with no need of Nick’s financial or security support. If Adalind had to pick a step-dad for one of her kids, would she prefer Nick as a step-dad to Diana or Renard as a step-dad to Kelly.?
She would have still rejected Sean for how he used her and discounter her. Whatever Nick did to her was in retaliation of the result of her actions, to him, driven by Sean and the Royals.
If she chose to pick one? IMO it would still be Nick. Even a Hexenbiest knows a nice guy when she sees one.
You know you are OLD, when you see the Slide Ruler you used in college selling in an ANTIQUE SHOP!!
Nick would have done whatever was required to get Adalind to a place where she could safely express her real preference, and if she had actually chosen Sean over him he would have accepted it. But he would probably still have killed Sean rather than let him raise Kelly.

If love wasn't part of the equation and Adalind left Kelly behind so she could get Diana back, Nick would at least ascertain if Adalind was safe (at this stage he should know she'd never willingly leave either of her children) and probably help free her from BC's clutches. Until Black Claw was dealt with, I see Rosalee looking after Kelly, although it would have been interesting to see Nick struggle as a single parent. Once Adalind is free and reunited with both children, they would probably work out a custody agreement of sorts. I can see the first three episodes playing out as they did but minus all the romance between Nick and Adalind. They would have been working together as partners for a common goal.
Adalind wanting to be with Sean complicates things especially if Renard is written as wanting to kill Nick. Nick may not want his son around Renard as a result.
I have a hard time imagining Nick agreeing to any arrangement that allows Sean to be around Kelly without him being present. if Sean still wanted Nick dead, any custody arrangement would probably have to include Sean's head in a box.

Which reminds me and dates me. Back in the days of the beginnings of drive trough’s. I used to frequent ye old “Jack-in-the-Box” fast food franchise by La Guardia Airport. Now Sean was possessed by Jack the Ripper. Combine on what you said about his head and you reminded me of those days.

As a mother, should not do it and a mother must take care of all her children equally.
The children are important so there are two or ten.
I'm sure Nick would have seen it wrong even if he stayed with Kelly in the loft
