So often when TV shows have a Native American element, they jumble together elements from different tribes with very different traditions. Here they brought a spirit from the traditions of the Great Lakes tribes into the Pacific Northwest. At least they gave a nod to the difference by saying that the young man's mother was an Ojebwe.
But why was he fostered with a White family? Doesn't the Indian Child Welfare act give personal jurisdiction over orphaned Native American children to the Tribal Courts?
