It starts with Renard suddenly getting a lot of blood on his hands. Renard also imagines holding a gun and seeing some bullets. And Sergeant Franco, who is talking to Renard, suddenly changes his face into some sort of monster, while saying: “you chose the wrong side, Sean”. This all support what Sasha Roiz said: “It was definitely something he [Renard] was struggling with within himself”. The fact that Diana could not see Meisner also indicates it was not a real ghost. This is, of course, inconsistent with Meisner distracting the BC assassins and Renard telling Trubel that Meisner knows. However, it surly proves that this was all about Renard’s bad choices and NOT that Sean:
I just got done re-watching those few 1st episodes of Season 6. The 1st appearance of Meisner popping up in Sean's mind was when his campaign manager, or what ever else he was working on his campaign, was killed by the lieutenant promised to be promoted to captain once Sean took over the mayoral seat.
Then there is the episode when Sean seeks out the pawn shop with the machine to extract the spirit inside of Sean. Once inside the phone booth looking machine, we see a smoke like spirit sucked out of his body. Then he ends up on the floor of an empty shop. Was it all in his mind or did it really take place? IMO, it was all in his mind as a manifestation of his own guilt.

Episodes from 4 on were being rewritten on the fly and all sorts of changes got made. Maybe Meisner was originally going to "haunt" Renard all season and they shifted gears to cut that short.
You want to talk about Season 6 being rushed? I will re-post this on my re-watch tread too
In the cicada episode 5, The Seven Year Itch, when William Stillman voge from human form to a big cicada and back. He keeps voge-ing back with his clothes on as if the clothes he is wearing was part of his Wesen form.
This happened 1st with the old ripped clothes he had on when he was buried and it happened again when he is dressed in a suit when he took the hippo gal for a walk in his park.
IMO that was a big, big screw up. from rushing the end. I don't recall any other voge of a Wesen voge and the clothing voge-ing too.
You know you are OLD, when you see the Slide Ruler you used in college selling in an ANTIQUE SHOP!!
