Your example of Renard agreeing to kill someone was to settle a grudge, not very selfless. A promotion, even if little pay increase is involved, is one; increased power, recognition is a big one for some types . I don't remember Renard doing anything for anyone where wasn't some sort of payback. When Nick helped Bud's lodge, the only payback he got was a room full of baked goods and craft items. Those are not the sort of thing that give me a thrill, we are still eating our way through Thanksgiving, and our house is full to brim as it is. For the most part, the Grimms in the book and the show were not killing wessen so the community would respect them or to make money as contract killers, it was to serve and protect.(12-31-2017, 06:08 PM)eric Wrote: Okay, I can even see Juliette working with the group, like she did in the police station. Can't see Renard killing wessen unless he was getting some kind of payment.
Really? I think Renard was my favorite character (that or Monroe) but I don't think he was motivated by money; I do think he was motivated by power ad self interest. To that end, IMO, I think he would strangle a kitten if it pleased him to do so or seemed fun at the time. He reminds me of a brother I disowned.
I think the way you get Renard to kill someone is just ask him. if he wants to He might reply with, "Hey Nick, I got this one. I never liked that A**hole anyway. It would be a pleasure to kill him for ya". Well he might say it in eloquent French but you get the idea.
