Hi Forum,
Fallout asked: Quote:So then why did she ask how Adalind was doing before asking for nick.Ho's reply: Quote:Standard-Issue pleasantry. Delivered with no actual concern regarding the recipient's well-being.is consistent with FrankenEve's persona. Droid's comment: Quote:JuliEve seems to be making a habit of forcing Nick to drop everything and come meet her for 1-minute conversations they could have easily had over the phone, doesn't she? When she asked "can you come meet? It has to be now", I was kinda hoping Nick would be like "You know what? No. I have my own life going on and I cant keep dropping everything to run to you whenever you feel like touching base. Anything you want to tell me you can tell me right now on the phone."Is also pertinent. FrankenEve has no feeling. Her lack of empathy makes her an ineffective communicator. Her memory of the heinous acts she committed and total lack of remorse is disgusting. She has given no indication that she knows or cares to know right from wrong. She is just a mindless killing machine. I agree with Droid. In addition, Nick needs to tell Meisner that he cannot work with HW if FrankenEve is involved. She cannot be trusted. New Guy

Other than superhexenbitch changing into Renard, there was absolutely nothing of interest. I think the gender issues are the least troublesome. Its not hyperbolic at all to call that scenario rape, and this time its rape of a woman, which shouldn't really be more troubling than rape of a man but culturally it still is. And it'd be committing the same act of rape that Adalind committed with Nick, which ultimately ended their relationship (and led to her erstwhile death), which is even more troubling. Besides, does Eve really even have a gender identity anymore? She's a robot-zombie that happens to have a female form...but once she no longer has the female form, what part of her left is female? On a lighter note...Rachel seems like the kind of woman that knows her way around a man's bed. I think she might notice if suddenly Sean started awkwardly poking around and acting surprised like he just grew his penis yesterday....because he did

FrankenEve can't be too bright if she thinks anything good can come out of using that crap AGAIN. Sooner or later her body is going to explode into gooey little pieces if she keeps it up.

Interesting, I would consider the rape of a man to be more troublesome in our society. Certainly male victims of sexual assault are in an exceptionally difficult position due to the ways most people perceive masculinity and a victim's identity. I used to teach sexuality courses to undergrads and it taught me that any male who is raped is, in many ways, in a worse position than a female one due to a wide range of factors (i.e. people reject the idea men can be raped, support services designed for men are not widely available, the stigma attached to a male rape victim can be extreme, assaults in some settings (prisons) are viewed as punitive, etc...). With regards to the whole body switching thing we've seen on Grimm, I believe the key difference is that, unrealistic though it may be, it's closest to rape by deception. People tend to associated rape with violence, but if someone is coerced or tricked into intercourse violence may not play a direct role in the assault, which is not to say they have not been violated. The situation with Adalind sleeping with Nick as Juliette is challenging because it brings up questions about whether one form of rape is somehow less egregious than others. It's easiest to say that all forms of sexual violence are heinous and totally unacceptable, yet our own justice system doesn't even work that way and globally sexual violence is viewed so disparately at times is can be baffling and more than a little disturbing. The best thing about what's happening on Grimm is that it's all fiction. We get to explore some pretty amazing issues and very tricky moral questions without anyone actually getting hurt. Thinking about it, if I was JuliEve (or any hexenbiest really) and I could try on a man's body for a while, I would TOTALLY want to try having sex while I was in it. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't want to hurt anybody or lie to anybody, but if I had a shot at seeing what it was like to be a man for a little while I'd be doing everything from writing my name in the snow with my pee, to seeing how much I could bench press and anything in between I could think of. I mean, I know JuliEve will be on a mission and all, but she'd be crazy not to at least "poke around" a little as you said while she's wearing her Sean suit. Well that's exactly why I said, at least from a storytelling perspective, culturally male rape (especially female-on-male rape) is not viewed as egregiously as male-on-female rape. They're fictional characters, as you said, so we cant really talk about the trauma they're experiencing...they only exist inasmuch as they're perceived by others, so the important thing is how others perceive them. Intellectually, should we be more troubled by male rape for all the reasons you cited? Sure, maybe...but viscerally, immediately, which disturbs the average viewer more? When its a woman.

Now THAT would be fun for a day or two. Not only could you write your name in the snow but you could pretty much pee wherever you wanted as the world would basically become your toilet. Plus, you could pass gas and your friends would think it was funny or at the very least, you wouldn't have to blame it on an innocent bystander. Just think, you'd never have to shave below the neck and when you talked to other guys, they wouldn't speak to your tits nor secretly wonder if you swallow. All of your orgasms would be real, foreplay would be optional and you could open all of your own jars. Oh, yeah, for a day or two, I'd buy THAT for a dollar. |
