Grimm Forum 2.0 - GrimmForum - 09-22-2013

In anticipation of the third season of Grimm, we'll be implementing some changes at Grimm Forum to help make our community an even better place for fans. We're especially excited to introduce Grimmpedia to you, a community wiki project for our memebers.

1) Grimmpedia - The Grimmpedia Encyclopedia is our community's take on a wiki. We wanted to create a community project for our forum that'll allow members to collectively work together. We want to increase the amount of information about Grimm on the Internet, and we hope you will join us. Membership is open to all contributing Grimm Forum members. More information about Grimmpedia will be available in a separate thread coming up soon. In the mean time, you can see a preview of Grimmpeida at http://wiki.grimmforum.com

2) Alerts - We've added a new notification system to the top navigation. When you receive a notification, the Alerts link will turn red. You can adjust settings here.

You will get alerts for the following situations:

- A thread you created receives a post
- You're quoted in someone's post
- You're mentioned in a post
- You receive a Private Message
- You're added to a buddylist

For example, if you are responding to a comment and want to alert the author, you can either:
  • Click the Quote Button [Image: postbit_multiquote.gif] located underneath the comment
OR
  • Mention the author by using the @ symbol in the following format: @username

If the username contains spaces and is not cached in the system, or has characters outside the 26 letters of the English alphabet, it will require quotation marks in the following format: @"user name"

If mention works successfully, the username will be a link like in the following example: @GrimmForum

If the uesrname is not a link, the mention feature didn't work, and you will most likely need to use quotation marks.

3) New Servers - You've likely noticed by now that the site is performing a lot better than before. We moved to a new web host a few weeks ago. This was an important first step for Grimm Forum in having the necessary resources to grow and handle more visitors in the future. We are looking forward to seeing our community grow over the course of the third season and beyond!

4) Community and TV Categories - We'd like to encourage more discussions in our Community Categories. We encourage you to make new threads, and respond to topics in the Community categories. We also want to encourage more discussions around other TV shows currently on the air and thus we will be creating new sub-categories for upcoming TV Shows including Dracula and Agents of SHIELD.

If you are interested in becoming a moderator for a TV Show currently on the air, please private message me. Duties include making official episode discussion threads and leading discussions. One other requirement is that there must also be at least one other member interested in discussing the TV Show.

5) Chat - We're adding a chatroom feature to the forum in order to create more dynamic discussions when new episodes of Grimm air. We're still testing out the chatroom, but when it's ready, we'll provide a link to it in the navigation.

6) Ads - Grimm Forum costs money to run every month. I wanted to keep Grimm Forum Ad-free as long as possible, but now we're at the point where we need to put up ads to keep our operations sustainable. These ads will help us keep our operating costs down so that we can keep Grimm Forum online.

Thank you all for making Grimm Forum such a great community. We're looking forward to making Season 3 the best yet for the forum!
