Kelly made a on-the-spot decision to try to save her son. It turned out that she did save him. She made the right decision. Kelly did as much as put herself out as the target to divert attention away from her son. If that isn't the ultimate act of love of a mother for her child (putting her own life at risk instead of staying where she was or taking him on the run with her), I don't know what is.
Just because a few posters create elaborate scenarios to detract from the more realistic motivation of a parent for her child doesn't make them plausible. That's what I believe I's post above is; an artful rationalization that flies in the face of what would normally explain a certain act or behavior.
