That is no excuse for not doing as good a job as you can and making every effort to get better. In ANY art, excellence should be the goal. I don't expect professional quality writing, but good grammar should not be too much to expect. And if they are still in their teens, they should still be in school, so their grammar lessons should be fresh in their minds. Grammar isn't something that teachers make up just to have something with which to torture students, you know---it is an important skill for life; hence, it should be practiced constantly lest sloppy habits from "unimportant" writing carry over into important tasks.
